PRIVATE HOUSE OUTSIDE OF BATH (double spread from competition submission)
We were asked by Studio KAH to work with them on landscape ideas for this private house.
Our concept is to create a series of journeys and spaces by introducing a sculptural structure that would wind its way through the garden. This structure, or series of structures could be a wall which retains land when it has to, become a pattern in the ground when it does not and gives enclosure when desired. It could be made out of stone, timber and or earth.

The proposals where for a lightweight steel structure which represented the 1st and 2nd floor of the former pharmacy building, 3 types of climbing plants would be grown around this bringing seasonality and scent to the street.
The ground floor would be developed with the community, but could contain a ‘notice cabinet’ along the back wall.
We presented our ideas to the local community last week.

JANUARY 2010
KLEINGARTEN OR SCHREBER GARTEN (extract from UWE talk)
The German equivalent of our allotment but they are different. They were Dr Schreber’s reaction to the effects of the early industrialisation of German cities and how it divorced people from the nature. My wife’s great grandfather (August Wessendorf) wrote a book on Kleingartens and founded one in Gladbeck (or a Google translation).

SHORT LISTED FOR THE NEW SOIL ASSOCIATION HQ IN BRISTOL (4no presented images)
We were part of a team lead by Designscape Architects along with Bill Gething, Momentum Engineering and Ernest Griffiths, for a competition to design the new Soil Association headquarters in Bristol.
Our thoughts focused around how a building could interact with a variety of public and private spaces and how the whole site could be a positive and educational place to work while showcasing the Soil Association to the public. Sad we did not to win.
