SOAR WORKS, SHEFFIELD

We are working with Architecture00 to help integrate proposed light industrial units, artists’ studios, meeting rooms and public space into the Parson’s Cross area of Sheffield to help regeneration.
The design aims to provide a naturalistic softness and gentleness to an urban area.  Boundary treatments are key, so we have designed a sustainable urban drainage system which feeds boundary swales and a living willow fence.
A sense of identity is achieved at the entrance by native plant species chosen to work with the different colours of the building shutters both in summer and winter.
For the entrance courtyard we have designed 5 benches that integrate with the planting by encouraging shade tolerant plants to colonise underneath them.
